Aha..... It's been way too long since my last blog post about my little fish wife. Don't think that I haven't been thinking about Kanata, because I definitely have... I've just been unmotivated about posting! But it's okay, that's what this post is for.

ABYSS

I think Happy Elements wanted me to die. After the reveal of Kanata's childhood silhouette, we finally got my dream scout: Shinkai cult trio lookback. The story details a crucial part of Kanata, Madara, and Souma's childhoods, specifically the moment where Kanata's mother faked her death and fled the cult, leaving Kanata behind. AHHHHHHH! That's the only way I can describe my thoughts about this story. In a good way! Seeing these three as kids, seeing the developing relationships between them, seeing the current relationships between them... I've been waiting for this story for too long. Souma and his unwavering compassion, Madara and his plethora of issues, Kanata and his love for Madara and Souma, his own emotions towards his past, his growth from God to human being... Ugh. If I think about this story I get too sick.

STELLA MARIS

The long awaited RYUSEITAI climax event... Fun fact, Stella Maris translates to "Star of the Sea", which is a title for the Virgin Mary. Incredibly fitting to include religious motherhood symbols in a Kanata event, really. The story, again, drove me insane. A lot of aspects were so important to me, such as meeting Kanata's younger half brother, Konata, and seeing Kanata's bond with the rest of RYUSEITAI be emphasized, and even delving into the reasons why Kanata started being so mean to Madara in the first place (the Mikejima lore drop in this story is something I still haven't stopped thinking about. Kanata just wanted to push Madara away, because Madara's repeated breaking of rules—committing of sins—in order to bring some freedom to Kanata, only got Madara punished. WAAA!!)

I really appreciated the attention brought to Kanata's family dynamics. His rocky relationship with his mother, his infant relationship with his younger brother, how he views RYUSEITAI as the closest thing to family he's ever had. Man. I feel crazy thinking about it all.

Also, the song for the event, "Bokura no Stella," was really cute. I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but Kanata is enough of a reason for me to like it :-)

RYUSEITAI ALBUM DROP

AH!! I've been waiting for RYUSEITAI's album for so long... It dropped when I was in class, and I had to drown out everyone's voices with the new songs for hours. The lead single I was especially fond of. It's not my favorite of the TRIP album leads, that'd probably be 2wink's "Twinkle Kuuchusen", but I did really enjoy "New Daybreak"! Though... what I was most excited for were the new solos, LOL. Tetora's was so cool, Shinobu's was by far my favorite, Chiaki's was cute, Midori's was exciting... and Kanata's just made me really happy :-) it is called "happy drops", so... check it out, below ^__^
